Hello there, my name is Siobhan Maclean
I have been a social worker in the UK for over 36 years. I am passionate about making social work theory accessible to busy students and practitioners. For a number of years I have been working on developing some unique content and resources to support people with developing theory informed practice and I am excited to be able to offer you access to this unique website.
Here you will find lots of useful information about social work theory including:
- Accessible information about a wide range of social work theories
- Exercises to support you in applying theory to practice. The envelope activity will suggest theory that might relate to particular practice situations you input. The theory body and the theory tree will help you to create connections between your work and theory. You can save and print off your work on these activities for your own CPD or for discussion in supervision
- Siobhan’s theory academy – you will be able to book on and access a range of training on social work theory

Social Work Theory is available for £30/year. Once you have registered, you will need to start your subscription to access the site. A three day trial is available.
